EMSI Working to bring additional jobs to Maryland

As stated by Maryland Governor, Martin O'Malley,"One of the most important choices that we can make in these times is to be more engaged in the global economy. That’s why after our first successful trade mission to China, Vietnam and South Korea last summer, we brought our jobs mission to India this past fall."  O'Malley continued the trade mission to India in December 2011 with a group of American business leaders from growing companies and enterprises and Prince Georges County and Montgomery County Maryland.  Among the business leaders were Environmental Management Services, Inc. (EMSI) President and CEO, Shobhana Sharma,  and CFO, Kumar Barve.  Kumar is also a member of the Maryland State House of Delegates and the House Majority Leader.   Ms. Sharma openly and actively supports initiatives that not only perpetuate EMSI's international growth, but help development projects with international economies.

On April 24, 2012, Environmental Management Services, Inc. was a designated sponsor in cooperation with O'Malley and the State of Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development during a conference held with a group of 60 business leaders from India and Maryland

As a result of our efforts in cooperation with Governor O'Malley in India, an agreement was signed with the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) - a top Indian business organization that funds and supports many government and non-government education institutes abroad.  The agreement sets in motion the plan to "create an India-Maryland Center in Maryland to boost trade between the two regions."  In addition, Indian based companies like Jubilant Life Sciences, plan to invest $20M in an effort to triple warehouse space in Maryland and to add jobs.  Lastly, during the trade mission, at least 9 American companies have agreed on significant deals or joint ventures with Indian based companies.  These efforts have brought back $145M in planned ventures and Foreign Direct Investment in Maryland.

It has always been our priority to pay attention to economic sustenance and growth.  "Together, in Maryland, by strengthening our ties abroad, we’re making the right choices to transform the global challenges of today into the jobs and opportunities of tomorrow. I look forward to more missions in the future." - Gov. O'Malley.  With our participation in these activities, we find satisfaction in the knowledge that we are paving a path for continued domestic and international economic growth.
